I recently had the chance to test out the Nakto Folding Ox electric bike and was very impressed with its overall performance and features. As someone looking for a convenient and portable e-bike for commuting and recreational riding, the Folding Ox seemed like it could be a great option. In this review, I’ll provide an overview of the bike’s pros and cons after testing it out for a few weeks.
Electric Bike Pros
Portability
The main pro of the Folding Ox is its easy portability. With its folding frame, it can quickly fold up into a compact size to easily fit in a car trunk or storage closet. I was able to fold it up in under 30 seconds. The folding mechanism felt sturdy and secure. At just 55 pounds, the Folding Ox is lightweight enough to carry up stairs or lift onto public transportation.
Power and Speed
The 500W motor provides plenty of power to assist you up hills and reach speeds up to 25 mph. The different PAS modes allow you to customize the level of power assist. Even on the highest setting, I never felt like the bike was doing all the work for me. The 48V 12Ah battery has great range as well. On a single charge I could ride for 35-40 miles depending on terrain.
Comfortable Ride
The 4″ fat tires and front suspension fork absorb bumps extremely well and provide a smooth ride even on rough terrain. The seat is well-cushioned and adjustable to fit riders from 5’3″ to 6’3″. The swept-back handlebars provide an upright and relaxed riding posture.
Safety Features
I felt very safe riding the Folding Ox thanks to its powerful disc brakes, integrated lights, and large 4″ tires that grip well on just about any surface. The control pad makes it easy to monitor battery level.
Electric Bike Cons
Added Weight
The main downside is that the Folding Ox is heavier than a standard e-bike without fat tires. However, the cushioned ride quality and traction gained with the fat tires is worth the added weight in my opinion.
Price
With an MSRP of $1099, the Folding Ox sits at the mid-range of the e-bike price spectrum. However, there are sometimes discount promotions running and you get great quality and features for the price.
Conclusion
Overall, I was very satisfied with the Nakto Folding Ox electric bike. It truly excels in portability and provides a comfortable ride with the fat tire design. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a folding e-bike that can tackle a variety of terrains. It makes commuting and running daily errands much more convenient. The 6-speed gearing is definitely well paired to the electric motor where I could find a great balance of speed and effort with pedal assist. I would give it a 4 out of 5 star rating.
